Pidgin Fire Bible
The indigenous population of Papua New Guinea consists of a huge number of tribes who mainly live in almost complete isolation. More than 700 differently mutually languages and dialects are spoken. Pidgin English is the main means of communication between speakers of different languages and the most frequently used language in Parliament and commerce.
Papua New Guinea is located north of Australia and occupies the eastern half of the island of New Guinea. Indonesia lies to the west. Total land mass of this nation is 178,703 square miles which includes about 600 nearby islands. Population is 4,811,939.
Presence of the Assemblies of God is seen in 900 churches and outstations. There are approximately 150,000 members and adherents under the leadership of 420 ministers. At the present time, there are no Assembly of God missionaries in country. The Phil Rojak family, Southern Missouri District missionaries, will begin ministry in this nation following their current itineration.
For the third consecutive year the Southern Missouri District is investing in the sponsorship of the Fire Bible (Full Life Study Bible) and has chosen the Pidgin Fire Bible as this year’s project. Sponsorship includes the cost of translation and 10,000 copies of scripture. The District leadership would encourage every pastor and congregation to join our efforts to place the Word of God in the hands of the people of Papua New Guinea. Southern Missouri is currently promoting the Fire Bible by sponsoring the Khmer Fire Bible. Khmer is the official language of the 15 million people who live in Cambodia.
